Data Security - we're ISO 27001 registered!

Every community needs to feel safe

At the heart of every community is the need to feel safe and be safe.  So, what do we do to help keep our Cradle Community safe? Well, like any reputable company we only use ISO 27001 compliant data centres, meaning that they comply with industry best practice in terms of keeping data secure. But we decided that this wasn't anywhere near enough, so we invested a lot of time and effort into doing something that very few other companies like ours do. We actually went through a series of tough audits (think Ofsted inspections) to gain ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 accreditation ourselves. This means that our community can have confidence that we take information security management seriously.

So what are ISO27001 and ISO9001?

ISO 27001 is a widely recognised, internationally accepted standard for information security, and gaining certification goes way beyond simply using a secure data centre. An ISO 27001 accredited organisation like ours has to demonstrate that we back up your data, we vet our employees, we have robust plans in place to ensure that our IT systems are resilient and can be quickly restarted in the event of equipment failure, and many other things! In addition, we're also ISO 9001 accredited, which means that our quality management system has also been audited and approved.

What's the big deal with ISO 27001 anyway?

To most people, data breaches sound like a distant, hi-tech event that happen to somebody else, but they've happened to companies as big as eBay and TNT! They are more frequent than is often realised, and the impact on companies and individuals can be catastrophic, especially as they are often not discovered for a considerable length of time. At Cradle, however, we've made every effort to not only to ensure that we keep the data you record to be safe, but to demonstrate our commitment to you that this is the case. An accredited independent auditor has assessed our processes and controls, and confirmed they align with the certification standard, and this process occurs annually so you can be sure our standards don't slip.
